Salt Dough Ornaments
Project should be done with an adult!

Materials:
Waxed paper - Rolling pin - Large bowl - Measuring cups - Cookie cutters

Cookie sheets - Oven - Drinking straw

Ingredients

  • 2 C. flour

  • 1 C. salt

  • 1 C. water

  1. How To:
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and water.

  2. Knead together ingredients until it feels like dough.  Add a tad more water if mixture is dry.  Dry dough will make crumble.

  3. Roll dough out using rolling pin.

  4. Use cookie cutters to press out your favorite shapes.

  5. Place shapes on a cookie sheet.

  6. Use drinking straw to punch a hole in the top of the ornament.  Use this hole to hang the ornament.

  7. Heat oven to 300.

  8. Bake for 1 hour or until ornaments are dry on front and back.

  9. Let ornaments cool.

  10. Decorate with poster or acrylic paints or glue decorations onto them.

  11. Let ornament dry.  When dry, protect with a clear coat of acrylic paint.

  12. Put string or thin ribbon through the hole for hanging.

Suggestion:

Instead of punching a hole with the straw, buy magnets for the back and use at a fridge decoration.
